12月17日，据路透社报，美国外资投资委员会(CFIUS)有望在本周通过美国第3大电信商T-Mobile与第4大电信商Sprint的合并案，而这主要是因为上述两家电信商的母公司已表明考虑禁用华为制产品。
该关系人士指出，美国政府当局正对T-Mobile大股东、欧洲最大电信商德国( Deutsche Telekom )施加压力、要求其停止使用华为制品。CFIUS目前正就T-Mobile对Sprint的收购案是否对会国家安全带来影响一事进行审理，而关系人士指出，是否使用华为产品为其审理的一环。
不过，关系人士也指出，T-Mobile、Sprint和美国政府之间的协商仍未达最终共识，合并案最终仍有可能不被承认。
日经新闻13日报导，Sprint的母公司软银(Softbank)已敲定方针，计划将华为等中国制造的基站自现行的4G设备中移除，将依序更换成欧系厂商爱立信(Ericsson)、诺基亚(Nokia)的产品，且预计于2019年春天以后开始整备的5G基站也计划向上述两家欧系厂商下单。
12月14日，德国电信曾表示在讨论过中国网络设备的安全性过后，正在重新评估采购策略，但目前没有任何证据拒绝任何网络供应商。
