8月28日消息，AMD宣布将聚焦7nm工艺，7nm产品线包括Zen 2架构处理器核心、Navi（仙女座）GPU等，其中定于年底推出的7nm GPU和明年发布的7mn服务器CPU已经在台积电流片。

AMD表示，和台积电在7nm制程的合作相当顺利，并且早期硅片中已经见到出色成效，首款7nm GPU产品就是台北电脑展上亮相的Radeon Instinct加速卡，集成32GB HBM2显存。

同时，明年的7nm EPYC之后，消费级桌面的7nm也将跟上，每瓦性能将达到之前的2倍。

对此，AMD指出，在数年前，他们就决定采用灵活的光刻工艺选择。在7nm选择台积电的同时，AMD还会继续加强与GF在铸造层面的合作，包括对12nm/14nm的新投资，以确保对当下Ryzen、Radeon GPU和EPYC产品的支持。

而AMD宣布这一消息的重要原因就是格罗方德宣布搁置7nm LP工艺项目。

全球第二大芯片代工商格罗方德半导体（GlobalFoundries）本周一表示，公司将无限期暂停开发7nm芯片技术，转而专注于改进现有技术。作为重组过程的一部分，将削减就业岗位，具体数量尚未确定。

该公司的客户包括高通、AMD、博通和意法半导体（STMicroelectronics）等芯片制造商。

根据研究公司IC Insights的数据，格罗方德半导体的举动将增加电子业对台积电的依赖，后者2017年占有的芯片制造市场份额约为52%，而格罗方德的市场份额约为10%，联华电子和三星的份额分别为8%和7.4%。
